One of these days I want to write a short "all you really need to know to get started with ColdFusion" lesson. ColdFusion, if you know HTML, is very simple to get started with to build dynamic applications on the Web. All the books I've seen out there might appear intimidating to the novice who only knows HTML. Since I haven't written anything on it (and even if I did I make no promises it would be any good), I would recommend Ben Forta's ColdFusion Web Application Construction Kit. If you are new to ColdFusion, don't be afraid of the size of the book - it is very well written for the beginner to start with chapter 1 and move on to the next chapter.
